Ikea U.S. has launched its Buy Back & Resell service which will be piloted for a limited time at the Ikea in Conshohocken, Pa., from today through Sept. 19.
The Buy Back & Resell service will give Ikea customers the opportunity to sell back their gently used Ikea furniture in exchange for store credit. Participants will be able to give their furniture a second life through resale in the store’s ‘as-is’ section, which provides a more sustainable and affordable option for shoppers.
The service is available for fully assembled and functional Ikea furniture only, and all products will be reviewed based on condition, age and functionality. With safety at the forefront, all recalled products and particular categories of products such as chests of drawers will not be accepted, according to the company.
Keesson said Ikea remains committed to its goal of designing all products to be 100% circular from the beginning, as well as aiming to use only renewable or recycled materials by adapting and finding new sources or developing new materials, and is on a journey to find circular solutions for existing and new customers to acquire and care for its products.
