CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – Ikea has partnered with Pinterest to offer “Ikea Renocations,” a new website to help inspire consumers to bring the feel of outside destinations into the home.
Statistics from Pinterest show that searches for renovations are reaching all-time highs, up 28% in Q1 2021 vs. Q1 2020 and 65% higher than searches in Q1 2019.
“At a time when many of us are looking to turn our home projects into a reality, Ikea wants to help consumers refresh their space with products and solutions inspired by places outside of the home, like the beach or a favorite bistro,” said Paul Anderson, Ikea U.S. home furnishing and retail design leader.
Ikea has created a custom quiz experience through Pinterest. Anderson said the immersive quiz brings shoppers deeper into home furnishing inspiration and products from Ikea with questions like “If you could be anywhere, where would you be?” and a series of combinations allowing the shopper to choose a personalized dream home.
Following the quiz, shoppers then receive a personalized Pinterest board with inspiring content and product recommendations based on their answers to transform their getaway into a reality they can implement right inside their home.
“The immersive quiz experience on Pinterest provides a personalized and inspirational shopping experience that helps make your dream getaway a reality, even at home,” Anderson added.
As consumer interest in renovations are spiking, new home trends are emerging, according to Pinterest. Research from the site shows that home-as-safe-haven is here to stay, but maximalism is on the rise, with trending decor ideas on Pinterest that include grand millennial décor, indie room and sage green aesthetic.
The social media site said home decor shoppers are turning to Pinterest as a key shopping destination. In fact, 89% of weekly Pinterest users use the platform for inspiration in their path to purchase
“The Ikea ‘Renocation’ campaign will help consumers tap into the home refresh they are looking for,” according to the company.
